Crag Summary
We originally planned to climb at Lasagna wall (shorter walk in, flatter base, nice-looking wall with vert climbs) but the all-day sun was a bit too harsh on the day we visited – also another climber was extremely effusive about Cyclops Cave… And so we continued on to the cave (with a sweet stray giant dog leading the way). We had to navigate a couple of sections of semi-scree/boulders that needed some care, but the destination did not disappoint.
A wonderfully atmospheric spot with views for days, plenty of steep treats inside and some more vert options on the sides.
- Style: single pitch sport
- Parking: 41.22172, 19.97954
WARNING: gravel road – we made it in a 7m motorhome in bone-dry weather. - Topo and Approach details: Thursday, 27 Crags
- We visited on: Thursday, 31st Oct 2024
- Who else was there: maybe 5-10 other climbers, visiting from outside Albania. Maybe it was a bit busier due to the climbing festival that took place recently – however this definitely seems to be one of the more popular Albanian crags.
Nearby
On the way out south from the capital Tirana.
Bovilla crag is also near Tirana on the north and was probably the most notable crag that we missed in Albania. The road up and parking sounded a little hectic – but people we talked to did think our 7m motorhome would have made it… probably!
Wow Factor
Beautiful cave, birds flitting in and out. A bit of buzz from heavy machinery on the other side of the valley.
Approach
30 minutes. A medium, mostly flat walk with a couple of sections of semi-scree/boulders that needed some care.
Shade
NW facing. Always shade to be found in the cave. Beautiful sunset. (Lasagne S facing)
Playtime Base
Some flat sections, lots of steep and rocky bits. Dusty!
Harder Climbs
7s and high 6s in and around the cave.
Kiddy Climbs
Only a few 5s. But great swings to be had.
