Crag Summary
This was perfect for a half day out where it is quick to reach and a selection of climbs really well-suited for kids. Be ready for a bit of a steep approach and to climb in the sun (but with shade at the base). Have a cruisy time and then it’s an absolute must to continue up the road to Langarica canyon.

Langarica canyon (photos below) offers warm springs and opportunities for walks both into the canyon or up along the top for views down into the chasm. There is actually a few bolted routes in the canyon but we can’t speak to their quality. The springs are super popular with day visitors but we timed our dips at the start/end of the day and did our walks or climbing in the middle – truly perfect days.
Gjinkar crag is just round the corner, providing harder climbs and making a great combo.
Camping at Albturist – a homely rural campsite with extremely friendly hosts.
Wow Factor
Nothing crazy dramatic but views out across a pretty valley
Approach
Short but rather steep and slippy – we found that we had to hold hands and watch the kids steps a bit.
Shade
S facing so always sunny – but enough trees for a shady base
Playtime Base
Not heaps of space and quite slopy, but able to tuck away in little spots
Harder Climbs
Only a few 6s up to 6b
Kiddy Climbs
3s, 4s, 5s – really nice proportions and holds for the kids

Don’t miss… Langarica Canyon up the road
