Rebro

Crag Summary
A striking fin of rock on top of a scenic plateau with climbs from 5s-7s on both sides and views down both slopes. The fin of rock runs NNW to SSE so there is sun or shade on either side depending on whether it is morning or afternoon.
The most attractive routes are on the west face – seemingly blank, frictioned slab, the base is wonderfully flat and a beautiful climbers’ shelter completes the idyllic scene.
The approach from the south is long and involves a via ferrata but from the north it is a very manageable walk up the hill.
- Style: single pitch sport
- Parking: 43.26166, 17.90457
- Topo and Approach details:
- There is an official Bosnia and Herzegovina Rock Climbing Guidebook updated in 2024 – if it had been possible to extend our time in B&H (beyond the measly one day) we would absolutely have gotten our hands on this.
- Rebro crag itself had route lists posted on-site but not sure how permanent that is.
- The Crag also has very decent info.
- We visited on: Wednesday, 2nd Oct 2024
- Who else was there: we had it to ourselves. I did check out the crag for a quick recce the day before and met a small group up there
Nearby
The parking spot for the easiest approach to Rebro is also the parking for the medieval fortress which takes the very clearly marked zig-zag path up the hill.
Much much much more climbing on the other side of Blagaj which we sadly did not get a chance to explore.
The Dervish Monastery ‘Tekija Blagaj’ is much photographed but still worth a look.
Wow Factor
Stunning rock feature, stunning views – idyllic
Approach
Allow 20 minutes for little legs – a walk up the hill with markers to keep motivation and nothing too steep.
Shade
Shade on either side of the rock, little trees available and of course the shelter too
Playtime Base
Flat, green expanse – did we mention the shelter?!
Harder Climbs
Lots of 5s, 6s, 7s and a single 8. It’s very much got it’s own style that takes a bit of getting used to!
Kiddy Climbs
Some easier 43s/5s, our kids enjoyed making up boulder problems on the plentiful rock features scattered around
