Crag Summary
This by no means a destination crag for the climbing’s sake. But the view is certainly spectacular so if you’re in the area it’s not a bad way to spend a morning – big switchbacks up a good-condition mountain road, a short approach to the crag and the entire Dalmatia coast on display. The routes are quite short and not as compelling as the long-lines in world-class crags but not bad as an excuse to soak in those views.
We had gusty winds on the day we visited – this made the climbing a bit more exciting. The rock felt more slippery and less sharp compared to Paklenica – perhaps the winds increased the feeling of insecurity… There are also hiking trails in the area, the carpark area was actually quite busy, but not a soul at the crag.
- Style: single-pitch sport
- Parking: 43.58134, 16.32592
- Topo and Approach details: The Crag provide enough information to figure it out. I’m not sure this crag would be in the formal guidebooks.
- We visited on: Friday, 27th September 2024
- Who else was there: we had the crag to ourselves.
Nearby
We stopped by this crag on our way in between the Dragon’s Eye lake in Rogoznica and the famous historical city of Split.
The former felt like a hidden gem which ended up being a family memory highlight of Croatia – jumping into dark, salty water at any height you please. The latter was beautiful, historical but crowded – I wonder if it’s possible to visit Split when the Cruise-ship crowds are not there at the same time…
Wow Factor
Views of the entire Dalmatia coast.
Approach
5-10 minutes on a rocky track.
Shade
The rockface is largely south, slightly west – so expect sun all day. The base is mainly scrubby bushes but one beautiful arching tree provides a shady spot.
Playtime Base
The base is quite wide with some nice areas under trees for picnic/play. There are some drop-offs to watch though.
Harder Climbs
The small selection of routes stretch into the 7s. However overall the lines are short and not of the high-quality you’ll find at other crags in Croatia.
Kiddy Climbs
Some 4s and 5s however the angles are a bit awkward for little statures.
