Crag Summary

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The location and vantage of this crag gets absolute top marks. It’s sunny, making for a perfect winter spot, especially on a day with little wind and views as far as the end can see. A brilliant family day out, especially given that lots of the climbs are at very accessible grades.

Overall I found the bolting to be a bit varied with a few different styles/ages of anchors so a bit of care and judgement needed. Also definitely necessary to wear helmets where you are below the ridge which is roamed by many a goat (and their trusty shepherd dogs – we encountered one which was an absolute softie and another pair that seemed much more wild, so again care should be taken)

  • Style: single-pitch sport
  • Parking: 38.34370, 21.59858
  • Topo and Approach details:
    • Excellent write-up and description from Olympus Mountaineering
      • Sidenote: a sentence in this page was a big reason for why we decided to invest a good chunk of time on the Argolid peninsular: “The majority of the crags are easily accessible, together with plenty of beaches and many archaeological interests. This is an ideal area to go rock climbing for families with children” – they are very much right!
    • The Crag has descriptions and route names
    • Many routes have names painted on the rock in Greek
  • We visited on: Monday, 18th November 2024
  • Who else was there: we had the whole mountain to ourselves (+ a few hundred goats)

Nearby

The crag’s mountain is right next to a little village of Didima which has two distinct sinkholes on its outskirts you can visit – they are well-worth the detour for a little explore. There is the ‘Caves of the Twin Dolines‘ which has a little stairwell to enter, a path to walk all the way around and 2 small churches built into the rock. There is then the ‘Great Doline‘ which you can make a small hike to, very different in character and more open.
